Batman Arkham City

Posted by w k on 05:05

Batman: Arkham City is a 2011 action-adventure video game developed by Rocksteady
Studios. It is the sequel to the 2009 video game Batman: Arkham Asylum, based on the DC Comics superhero Batman. The game was released by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Microsoft Windows and OnLive. The game was officially announced during the 2009 Spike Video Game Awards and was released worldwide for consoles, beginning in North America on October 18, 2011, with the PC version scheduled for November. A Wii U version is scheduled for release in 2012.

The game was written by Paul Dini. The game features a main plot and a subplot. Side missions are available instead of an open-world concept. The main plot revolves around Batman being captured and thrown into half of Gotham City, with prisoners of Black Gate Prison and Arkham Asylum, called Arkham City. Batman must stop mishaps around the city, mainly with his arch-nemesis the Joker. Side missions include other characters from the DC Universe, such as the Riddler and Bane, who now serves as an ally to Batman, rather than an antagonist. Arkham City has received universal acclaim from critics.

Forza Motorsport 4

Posted by w k on 04:52

Forza Motorsport 4 is a racing video game released by Turn 10 Studios for the Xbox 360. It is the fourth installment in the Forza Motorsport series, and has been released in North America on October 11, 2011 and is going to be released in Europe on October 14. The game will be the first in the series to support the Kinect sensor alongside the traditional controller-based gameplay.

Gameplay

Players will be able to import their Forza Motorsport 3 profiles into Forza Motorsport 4, giving them the ability to transfer a certain amount of in-game credits and gifted cars into their new garage. The amount allowed transferred is based on how long they have played the game and how many cars and credits they have.

A video demo of the game showed that the player was able to look into a corner using a new head tracking feature, allowing them to look toward the apex of a corner or at nearby cars. Another new feature called Autovista allowed the player to walk around and explore inside their vehicle using Kinect. The player could point at certain features, such as headlights, wheels and

the engine, for further information about them. The Autovista feature is not limited to Kinect users only, and is useable by a regular Xbox 360 controller. When using Kinect, the game will automatically accelerate and decelerate your vehicle, a feature known as "auto brake" in Forza 3, and the steering would be done by either a controller or by movement of the players hands. Whilst the game supports head tracking, players can use a controller and Kinect at the same time. Steering will be done by the controller and the Kinect picks up head movement. Kinect will also allow the player to use audio commands to start races and navigate menus.

Players have the option to create car clubs and share cars in their garages within that club. In a departure from previous iterations of the series with a maximum of eight cars on track, the game supports 16 player racing, both online and offline. Three additional real world race tracks new to the Forza franchise, Hockenheimring, Indianapolis Motor Speedway and Infineon Raceway are also available. As well, a new fantasy track known as "Bernese Alps" is also available.

Ace Combat: Assault Horizon

Posted by w k on 04:50

Ace Combat: Assault Horizon is an upcoming installment of the Ace Combat arcade combat flight video game series developed by Project Aces and published by Namco Bandai for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
Setting

Confirmed locations in the game are Miami, Washington, D.C., Dubai, Paris, East Africa, the Middle East, and Moscow. Tokyo and Hawaii will be included as post-launch downloadable content. It will also take place somewhere in the Atlantic Ocean and the Pacific Ocean (where an A-10 Thunderbolt is seen in the teaser trailer).

The developers are using satellite imagery to accurately render the real-life locations, so it is possible for the player to pick out actual buildings and locations (such as individual houses) while playing the game.
Gameplay

The major new gameplay feature is a system called "Close-Range Assault" (CRA), which aims to increase the intensity and bring the action closer to the player, without the feeling of "shooting at faraway dots" commonly seen in flight games. In the game, it is named "Dogfight Mode" (DFM) for air-to-air battles and "Air Strike Mode" (ASM) for air-to-ground targets. They are not optional, as certain planes cannot be destroyed without CRA. To initiate DFM, the player taps LB+RB on the Xbox 360 and L2+R2 on the PS3 when they have gotten close enough to the plane they are targeting. ASM is initiated by pressing the same buttons at specific points around the map.

Also new to the series are attack helicopter missions, stealth bomber missions, and levels where the player controls a Black Hawk door gunner and an AC-130.
A new multiplayer mode called "Capital Conquest" involves two teams of 8 vs. 8 where each team takes turns either defending or attacking a world capital, such as Paris and Washington, D.C.. In this mode, fighters, attackers, attack helicopters, and bombers can fly together simultaneously. Each type of aircraft will have its advantages and disadvantages, having specific roles in the battlefield.

FIFA 12

Posted by w k on 00:33

FIFA 12 (titled FIFA Soccer 12 in North America) is the nineteenth game in Electronic Arts' FIFA series of association football video games. It is being developed by EA Canada, and will be published by Electronic Arts worldwide under the EA Sports label. David Rutter, the line producer for FIFA 12, promised "a revolutionary year for FIFA ... especially in the gameplay department."
An "Ultimate Edition" of the game will be available through Game and Gamestation stores. It includes 4 monthly Ultimate Team gold packs, with each pack containing 12 items including players, contracts, stadiums, managers, staff, fitness, healing, footballs, kits and badges. Each pack contains one rare item, such as enhanced player attributes, longer contracts and the most coveted players. On 22 June 2011, EA Sports announced that the Microsoft Windows version of FIFA 12 will have the same engine, features, and competitions as the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions.
Along with several other new EA Sports titles, FIFA 12 will be available three days early to purchasers of the EA Sports Season Ticket.
The release date of the FIFA 12 demo was announced at the Gamescom event in Germany on 16 August; the demo will be available from Xbox Live Marketplace, PlayStation Store and EA's Origin Store for Microsoft Windows on 13 September 2011, though the Playstation 3 demo will not be available in Europe until the following day.

Gameplay
A "trinity" of major gameplay changes have been implemented in FIFA 12; these are the Impact Engine, Tactical Defending, and Precision Dribbling.
In development for several years, the Impact Engine improves collision variety, accuracy, and momentum preservation. A new advanced procedural animation system is used along with collision physics to produce different results depending on the players and physical forces involved. This affects all players, so even those off the ball may have collisions. The Impact Engine has been cited as a game changer, making FIFA 12 less structured and synthetic than its predecessors, and has been described by producer David Rutter as the biggest technological change to the series since the transition to the current generation of consoles. The Impact Engine also directly affects injuries sustained by players during a match.
The new Tactical Defending system aims to change the approach to defending by placing equal importance on positioning, intercepting passes and tackling. When defending there will be more of an emphasis on slowing attackers down and containing them, and pressuring them into making mistakes. The defensive "press" button, which would cause an AI player to automatically home in on the player in possession of the ball, has been removed from FIFA 12 in favour of a more manual form of defending, requiring greater timing and precision.
The Precision Dribbling feature allows players to dribble whilst shielding, meaning you can still move around the pitch whilst holding players off, rather than being rooted to the spot. Close control has been added below jogging as a way of allowing players to take smaller, more frequent touches, keeping the ball closer and keeping tighter control. Players will now be much more aware of their surroundings. As an example, players in possession near the touchline will understand their position, and keep tighter control of the ball to stop it running out of play.
An improved artificial intelligence system named Pro Player Intelligence aims to make AI-controlled players react to the skills and capabilities of other players with appropriate actions. For example, a winger will be more likely to cross the ball into the box when he has a waiting team-mate with aerial ability, whereas he might look for support and play the ball along the ground if that team-mate is less of an aerial threat. Players will also make better use of their own strengths, so for example a creative player might look for less obvious opportunities such as playing long accurate passes, where another player in his situation would be more likely to play it safe with a short pass.
Match presentation has also been overhauled with a new default camera angle and improvements to the broadcast-style match build-up. Some in-game cutscenes have been removed, such as those before throw-ins and corner kicks. Instead, a player will simply run to perform the task in question with no interruption.

Grand Theft Auto 4

Posted by w k on 04:51

Grand Theft Auto IV is a 2008 sandbox-style action-adventure video game published byRockstar Games, and developed by Rockstar North, which has been released for thePlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 video game consoles, and for the Windows operating system. The game involves a separate timeline and world than its predecessors in the Grand Theft Auto series, starting the fourth "era" in the series, and is set in Liberty City, a fictional city based heavily on modern day New York City. The game follows Niko Bellic, an Eastern European war veteran who comes to the United States in search of the American Dream, but quickly becomes entangled in a world of gangs, crime, and corruption. Like other games in the series, GTA IV is composed of elements from driving games and third-person shooters, and features "open-world" gameplay, in which players can interact with the game world at their leisure in a nonlinear fashion. Grand Theft Auto IV also features several onlinemultiplayer modes.
Two expansion packs have been developed for the game, originally released as downloadable content for the Xbox 360 version throughout 2009. Both The Lost and Damned and The Ballad of Gay Tony feature new protagonists. The two expansions have been released together for all platforms as a stand-alone game called Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City. Grand Theft Auto IV: The Complete Edition is a bundle that includes both the original GTA IV game and the Episodes.
As the first game of the critically acclaimed series to appear on seventh generation consoles, Grand Theft Auto IV was widely anticipated. A major commercial and critical success, it broke industry records with sales of around 3.7 million units on its first day of release and grossing more than $500 million in revenue in the first week, selling an estimated 6 million units worldwide. As of March 2011, the game had sold over 20 million copies.
It is the all-time highest-scoring game on three professional critic review-aggregating websites: TopTenReviews,GameRatio and GameTab. It is also the highest rated current-generation game on Metacritic and MobyGames.

Battlefield 3

Posted by w k on 06:14

Battlefield 3 (commonly abbreviated to BF3) is a first-person shooter action video game, being developed by EA Digital Illusions CE and to be published by Electronic Arts. The game is set to be released on October 25, 2011 on Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and EA mobile confirmed a port for iOS platform. Despite its name, it is the eleventh installment in the Battlefield franchise, and the direct sequel to Battlefield 2, released in 2005.
Gameplay
Battlefield 3 will feature the maximalist combined arms battles that made the series popular across single-player, co-operative and multiplayer modes. It will reintroduce several elements absent from the Bad Company games, including fighter jets, the prone position and 64-player battles on PC. To accommodate the lower player count on consoles, the ground area will be limited for Xbox 360 and PS3, though fly space will remain the same.
During an interview with GameInformer Magazine, EA stated that Commander Mode is unlikely to be included, which was met with some criticism on the EA forum.
The game will feature maps set in Paris, Tehran, Sarajevo, Sulaymaniyah, New York, Wake Island and Oman.[citation needed] As a whole, combat will take place in urban streets, metropolitan downtown areas, and open landscapes suited to vehicle combat.
Battlefield 3 will introduce Battlelog, a free cross-platform social service with built-in text and voice communicator, game statistics and ability to join the game that friend is already playing (both players need to be on the same platform)
